The Patriots reportedly signing Stefon Diggs led one former New England receiver to believe his social media post led to his former employer making the ideal.
“Robert Kraft saw my tweet,” Chad Johnson posted on X with the high-five emoji.
Johnson expressed his support of the partnership when Diggs visited the Patriots last week.
“Stefon Diggs visiting Foxboro, one leg or two legs, (expletive) it no legs it all he’s gonna be open when given said opportunities, would be a superb locker room presence for the young QB & WR’s,” Johnson posted on X on March 20.
The retired six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver played only one season for the Patriots in 2011 and statistically had the least productive season of his career, catching just 15 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown. Johnson appeared in his first and only Super Bowl that season — a 21-17 loss to the New York Giants. He had one reception in the game for 21 yards.

Johnson shared the field with Patriots’ legends Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Matthew Slater and Rob Gronkowski, so he wasn’t Tom Brady’s top target.
Diggs, unlike Johnson, will more than likely be franchise quarterback Drake Maye’s No. 1 target in the upcoming season. Diggs joins DeMario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins in the wide receiver room.
