The Boston Red Sox hold the tools for a special season in 2025.

Offseason star additions, promising prospects and a young core create plenty of excitement upon the arrival of Opening Day. That time is here and the Red Sox can start their hopeful path to the postseason for the first time since 2021.

Boston should be among several contenders in the American League and it finally has the chance to put that product on the field in a real scenario.

On Opening Day, here are four bold predictions for this Red Sox season.

Garrett Crochet Wins American League Cy Young Award
Crochet absolutely carved up the opposition in spring training to the tune of 17.2 strikeouts per nine innings. The Red Sox ace starts his campaign against the Rangers on Opening Day.

This will be Crochet’s true breakout season after his first attempt as a full-time starter a year ago. The Red Sox roster the lefty at the right time as his prime will start in Boston. His improved arsenal paired with Andrew Bailey’s insight sets up the chance for an outstanding season.

Crochet will instantly reward the prospect investment that the front office sent to the Chicago White Sox. Boston’s next ace of a new era is here and will dominate in his debut season with the ballclub.

Kristian Campbell Wins Rookie of the Year
This prediction is even more likely with Campbell starting the season at the MLB level. A midseason call-up certainly would have hurt his chances, but a great final week of spring training reminded the Red Sox what Campbell is capable of.

The 22-year-old’s meteoric rise led to an unexpected run to an Opening Day job. He’ll eventually be joined in Boston by Marcelo Mayer and Roman Anthony, but Campbell starts a wave of talent with this accolade.

Red Sox Win American League East Title
Boston hasn’t won the division since 2018 when the franchise took down the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

The AL East will be tough, but Boston has the advantage in starting pitching over the other contenders in the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles.

It’s been quite the journey back, but the Red Sox will be kings of the East again.
