The Patriots were busy during the start of the legal tampering period, but free agency isn’t the only path for New England to get better.

Milton Williams was the marquee agreement the Patriots made Monday. One under-the-radar move was reportedly agreeing to a deal with Joshua Dobbs. That took a quarterback off the market as more signal-callers reportedly agreed to deals.

Sam Darnold led the free agent class when he reportedly agreed to a hefty contract with the Seattle Seahawks, and Daniel Jones kept the market going Tuesday when he reportedly agreed to a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

Those reported QB deals should be music to New England’s ears as the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants weren’t involved in them. Those teams carry the top three picks in the draft, and if two of them whiff on signal-callers in free agency, that increases the likelihood that at least two of them will select a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. That means the Patriots would get their choice of Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter, two prospects seen as the best in the class.

Tennessee and New York remain linked to Aaron Rodgers. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers also are lurking in the veteran’s market, and there is wild speculation about Rodgers following Brett Favre’s path and signing with the Minnesota Vikings.

Russell Wilson also was available after Monday’s free agency wave, but the market seems cold on the Pro Bowl QB.

While fans pay close attention to what the Patriots do in free agency, they should also pay attention to what the Titans, Browns and Giants do at quarterback.
