Aroldis Chapman had been fairly efficient so far as the new closer for the Boston Red Sox. He nailed down a pair of saves before he had his first slip-up on the mound Saturday.

Chapman entered a tied game in the ninth inning and allowed a walk-off hit to Brooks Baldwin after a leadoff walk. It marked his first loss as the Red Sox closer and marked Boston’s fifth loss in its last six games.

“It hurts all the same, every single loss that we have,” Chapman told reporters in Chicago through Red Sox translator Daveson Perez. “We’ve had some tough losses here of late. This time, I took the L, but they all hurt just the same.”

Chapman is a well-traveled veteran with several postseason trips and understands the commitment to withstanding the struggles of the season. He certainly hasn’t lost belief in the group after a crucial series loss and knows the Red Sox can turn the corner.

“Just keep having fun,” Chapman said. “Keep showing up with a positive mindset. These ups and downs happen over the course of the season. If we keep doing our work the way we know how, we’re going to get out of it and it’s going to be really good.”
