The Boston Bruins finally snapped their losing streak at ten on Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. In typical Bruins fashion, they did so in dramatic fashion.
Bruins prospect Fraser Minten made his debut agains the Hurricanes, wearing number 93. He is the first Bruins player to don the number. Minten was traded to Boston from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Brandon Carlo at the NHL Trade Deadline in March.
David Pastrnak scored his first career natural hat trick and assisted on the other two Bruins goals for his third career 5-point game. He also reached 90 points and 40 goals for the fourth consecutive season each, putting him among a very small list of Bruins players, including Phil Esposito and Rick Middleton.
Morgan Geekie opened up the scoring and assisted on all three of Pastrnak’s goals for his first career 4-point game. Jeremy Swayman got his 100th career win, the 10th Bruins goalie to achieve the feat.
