Red Sox star Rafael Devers finally removed the monkey from his back Wednesday night.

After going 0-for-19 with 15 strikeouts across Boston’s first five games of the season, Devers logged a pair of hits in the Red Sox’s middle contest against the Orioles. One of those knocks was an important RBI double that helped the visitors secure a 3-0 win in Baltimore, which halted an early season losing streak at four.

The two-bagger had to feel great for Devers, but his teammates might have been even more excited about the much-needed extra-base hit. The way Red Sox players and coaches reacted in the dugout meant a lot to the three-time All-Star.

“I enjoy it a lot,” Devers told reporters through interpreter Carlos Villoria-Benítez, per MLB.com. “It makes me happy, seeing that reaction, because that makes me see that they’re paying attention to my at-bat and they’re supporting me. And it makes me feel very, very happy about that.”

The Red Sox now will hope Devers can keep it rolling after finally picking up his first hits on the young season. The veteran slugger will look to do more damage at the dish Thursday afternoon when Boston goes for a series win at Camden Yards.
