The Patriots were aggressive this offseason, and one NFL executive believes it could pay off huge for Mike Vrabel’s side.

New England didn’t land its fantasy options like Tee Higgins or Ronnie Stanley, but not due to a lack of trying. However, it did spend money on top-tier talent like Milton Williams and Stefon Diggs.

The wide receiver’s contract raised eyebrows across some league circles. However, an NFL executive didn’t see any problems when asked by The Athletic’s Mike Sando.

“That is not an accident,” the exec told Sando in a column published Wednesday. “The number for Diggs is not problematic. That is the difference in having a coach like Mike Vrabel, who is not going to be scared off by a player like Diggs. You watch, they will make a mark this year and be a tough out. They will beat a Buffalo or someone like that.”

Owner Robert Kraft relayed a similar sentiment at the annual NFL meeting Tuesday when he stated his belief that the Patriots were a playoff-caliber team. New England will still need a good 2025 NFL Draft and will have to prove its worth on the field. However, the optimism around the Patriots continues to grow as Vrabel and the front office rebuild the roster.
