The Red Sox and the Blue Jays will wrap up their four-game series Thursday at Fenway Park.
Walker Buehler will return to the mound in Boston after starting the club’s home opener last Friday. The right-hander secured his first win with the Red Sox in that contest against the St. Louis Cardinals, but he did so despite allowing five runs on seven hits over five innings. It marked the second straight start Buehler went five innings or less and allowed four runs or more.
The two-time All-Star will be opposed by Chris Bassitt, who was excellent in his first two outings of the season. The 36-year-old logged back-to-back quality starts in which he pitched a combined 12 2/3 innings and only allowed one run with 16 strikeouts. That punchout number could spell bad news for a Boston team that struck out a combined 26 times in its last two games.
Alex Cora will deploy a similar lineup to Wednesday’s, with one key exception. Ceddanne Rafaela will be back in center field, and his return moved Kristian Campbell back to second base.
Here are the full lineups for the Red Sox-Blue Jays series finale, which will have full coverage on NESN beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
