It sounds like Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman could land on the injured list.
Bregman left Boston’s win over the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park on Friday due to right quad tightness. The 31-year-old wanted to test his injury Saturday morning, and the results weren’t great.
“I saw him this morning. He’s like, ‘Eh, it’s worse than I thought,'” Cora told reporters, per MassLive’s Christopher Smith. “So let’s see what the MRI shows and we’ll go from there.”
Cora did not confirm it, but he did admit that it was likely Bregman would land on the injured list. The Red Sox manager noted that all options from the majors and minors would be considered regarding who plays third base.
Nick Sogard started at third in the first game of the doubleheader against the O’s on Saturday.
