As the Boston Red Sox struggle to break free from another season of .500 patterns, the noise that Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer make in Triple-A Worcester gets even louder.

The top hitting prospects continue to punish opposing pitching and are more than deserving of MLB roster spots. The Red Sox still have to find space for them, but it feels like everyone around the franchise is ready to see them play at Fenway Park, including president Sam Kennedy.

“Excited to get them up here when the time is right,” Kennedy told NESN’s Tom Caron Wednesday. “You hate to say this, knock on wood, cross your toes. You’re just one injury away from big moves being made. Things happen sooner rather than later. Sometimes when guys go down with injury and when guys are playing at the level that they’re playing at you’d expect to see them relatively soon.”

Well, the Red Sox just had an injury in Triston Casas, though Anthony and Mayer are not candidates to directly fill that spot. It’s unclear what the Red Sox are waiting for in making these promotions happen.

Even Kennedy started to joke with chief baseball officer Craig Breslow about the timeline for the top Red Sox prospects.

“I do joke with (Breslow), ‘Hey, man. When’s this gonna happen?'” Kennedy said.
