The Boston Red Sox already lost Walker Buehler to the injured list Friday and now had another scary injury at Fenway Park.

Triston Casas hit the first-base bag hard while running out a ground ball and also clipped his left leg in a collision with Minnesota Twins first baseman Ty France. Casas immediately grabbed for his left leg as Alex Cora and Red Sox trainers ran out to the field.

Medical personnel carted Casas off the field with the injury while Romy Gonzalez took over at first base.

The Red Sox first baseman missed a large majority of the 2024 season with a rib injury when he played just 63 games. He hit 13 home runs with 32 RBIs for an .800 OPS in that span. So far this season, Casas played 29 games, slashing .184/.279/.306 with three home runs and 11 RBIs.

The injury occurred in the second inning of the series opener against Minnesota.
