New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge’s visit to Boston was one he’d rather soon forget after going 1-for-12 against Red Sox pitching.
Currently looking like a favorite to win American League MVP honors with a .378 batting average, 26 home runs, and 60 RBI, Judge looked pedestrian at the plate during the New York’s three-game sweep at the hands of the Red Sox.
While Judge added to his home run total with a game-tying solo shot in the ninth inning in of Friday’s 2-1 Red Sox victory, Boston starters Garrett Crochet, Hunter Dobbins, and Bryan Bello combined to put Judge’s bat on ice, resulting in nine strikeouts over the weekend.
According to Chris Cottilo of Mass Live, “The Red Sox were the second team ever to strike him out at least three times in three straight games, joining the 2018 Angels.”
That being said, the Yankees had a tough weekend at Fenway Park all around. Aaron Boone’s squad was shutout on Sunday, and was outscored 8-4 in the series overall. A handful of blunders on the base paths also resulted in momentum shifts that greatly benefited the Red Sox.
