The Boston Red Sox are searching for answers after the team’s losing streak reached six games with a 9-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

Generating offense was a struggle over the last three games, as Red Sox hitters produced four runs, 12 hits, and only three extra-base hits while striking out 31 times in that span.

Speaking to the media after the game, Red Sox manager Alex Cora was asked what he believes his offense must do to improve moving forward.

“Execute your game plan,” answered Cora. “You’re gonna have conviction. You have to trust the information that is provided and go from there. Also, you have to be prepared. Every hitter has a plan. We have a group approach, but at the same time, it’s one one-on-one at the end, and you have to make adjustments. You have to compete. That’s the most important thing. And I don’t think there’s a competition. I think they’re trying as hard as possible.”

Asked what his team’s young hitters need to do to turn the corner offensively, Cora believes his team just needs to remain mentally focused and be ready for Saturday’s game.

“Show up tomorrow,” said Cora. “We’ve got a game at four. We have to show up to play two more and prepare for (Chris) Bassitt, who’s another tough customer. And we have to execute our game plan.”

The Red Sox and Blue Jays will play game two of the series on Saturday with Lucas Giolito (3-1) opposing Chris Bassit (7-3).
