This is what all the fuss is about.
The starting rotations for this weekend’s three-game series between the Red Sox and Yankees feature some of the best arms in the American League.
Boston is off Thursday while New York wraps up a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals, so here’s how the pitching lineup looks:
Friday
NYY: Ryan Yarbrough (3-1, 4.17 ERA)

BOS: Garrett Crochet (6-4, 2.35 ERA)
NOTES: Crochet, the ace of the Boston staff, is dominating hitters in his first season with the Red Sox. He leads the American League with 110 strikeouts and is ninth with a 2.35 ERA.
Crochet got the win Saturday against the Yankees, but gave up five runs in six innings while striking out nine.

Yarbrough took the loss Saturday for New York, giving up eight earned runs in four innings of work.
Saturday
NYY: Carlos Rodon (8-4, 2.87 ERA)

BOS: Hunter Dobbins (3-1, 4.20 ERA)
NOTES: Dobbins is embroiled in a silly off-the-field story regarding his disdain for pinstripes and unsubstantiated stories involving his father’s history with the Yankees.
Dobbins beat New York on Sunday, giving up three earned runs in five innings and improving his record to 3-1 with a 4.20 ERA.

Sunday
NYY: Max Fried (9-1, 1.84 ERA)
BOS: Brayan Bello (0-2, 3.96 ERA)

NOTES: All eyes will be on Fried, who is the major’s first pitcher with nine wins this season. He also is third in the AL with a 1.84 ERA, proving he’s worth the eight-year, $218 million contract the Yankees gave him in December. Fried did not face the Red Sox last weekend in the Bronx.
After winning his first two starts of the season, Bello has hit a bit of a rough patch. He’s 0-1 with seven no-decisions in his last eight starts. The right-hander last took the mound on Monday, when he gave up three earned runs over 6 1/3 innings in Boston’s 10-8, extra-innings loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
