Watch Red Sox Prospect Roman Anthony Crush 497-Foot Grand Slam

Boston Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony made a thunderous case for a major-league promotion on Saturday night.

After receiving a routine off day on Friday, a well-rested Anthony returned to action with a bang. MLB.com’s No. 1-ranked prospect hit his 10th home run of the season for Triple-A Worcester.

It wasn’t any ordinary blast. Anthony demolished a grand slam that traveled 497 feet at an 115.6-mph exit velocity. Take a look at his towering moonshot.

According to Statcast data, Anthony belted the longest home run at any level this season. In fact, only four major leaguers have topped that 497-foot distance in the last decade.

Meanwhile, Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is one of only 18 MLB players to achieve a higher exit velocity in 2025.

Per the Worcester Telegram & Gazette’s Tommy Cassell, WooSox manager Chad Tracy said Anthony “murdered” the baseball. Anthony had a straightforward response to his latest achievement.

“Got it and didn’t really miss it,” Anthony said. “So it felt great.”

Bashing baseballs is nothing new for Anthony. Courtesy of Prospect Savant, the 21-year-old leads all current Triple-A batters with 31 barrels and a 94.6-mph average exit velocity.

Anthony doesn’t appear to have much left to learn in the minors. He’s now batting .290/.421/.495 with a 147 weighted runs created plus (wRC+) that ranks eighth among qualified International League hitters. Everyone ahead of him is 23 or older.

It’s now a matter of finding a spot for Anthony. Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Wilyer Abreu (against right-handed pitchers) already form a productive outfield, and Rafael Devers has established permanent residency at DH.

If he keeps raking, Anthony may eventually convince the Red Sox to make room for him in Boston.
