The All-Star break is a time to step back from the rigorous season, relax, and take a break from the intense competition that is the regular season.

Players from different teams come together, fraternize, and have a good time. Media sessions are akin to Super Bowl media day, where seemingly anyone and everyone can ask questions.

On Tuesday, former Boston Red Sox pitcher and current Atlanta Braves All-Star Chris Sale was available for questions, and the Section 10 podcast crew stopped by to ask about his former teammate, Rafael Devers.

“I knew you guys were trouble as soon as you walked up,” Sale joked. “You see someone sign a contract like that, you just think he’ll be there for his whole career. But this is baseball, this is a business, and things change.”

Sale’s answer was fairly straightforward. He said what most players would say, but his perspective is interesting given that he was also traded after signing a huge contract.

That trade hasn’t gone great for Boston. Chris Sale won the National League Cy Young Award in 2024 and was pitching at a very high level before suffering a rib injury in 2025.

Vaughn Grissom is in Triple-A Worcester, trying to find a path to the big league team. He’s worked out at first base and could be an option if Romy Gonzalez goes down with an injury. He also has experience at second, although Marcelo Mayer appears to be the plan going forward up the middle.
