MLB commissioner Rob Manfred gave Boston Red Sox fans some optimism when he recently said that the organization had shown “avid interest” in having the All-Star Game return to Fenway Park.
Manfred also called “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark” a “great venue” and indicated that the lengthy timeframe since Fenway last hosted the Midsummer Classic worked in Boston’s favor.
Citizens Bank Park (home of the Philadelphia Phillies) is set to host the 2026 MLB All-Star Game and Wrigley Field (home of the Chicago Cubs) is slated to be the site of the contest in 2027. The 2028 venue isn’t locked in yet, but it’s been reported that the Baltimore Orioles, San Francisco Giants and Toronto Blue Jays are among the contenders to be the host club.
That could leave 2029 as the next possible option for Beantown to have the All-Star Game back at Fenway Park.
With the Midsummer Classic last arriving in Boston in 1999, Red Sox reporter Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald said that 2029 would be the perfect time for the festivities to return.

“Next up should absolutely be Fenway Park. 2029 will mark the 30th anniversary of their last time playing host, to a ‘99 All-Star Game that remains one of the most memorable, special, and iconic events in both Red Sox and MLB history,” Starr wrote. “2029 could be a tremendous 30-year victory lap for American’s Most Beloved Ballpark™, (especially if the home team can become a formidable contender again by then).”
Boston has served as the host city of the MLB All-Star Game four times before, with Fenway Park being the venue on three occasions.
The 1936 event was held at National League Park in Beantown, before Fenway Park hosted the showcase in 1946, 1961 and 1999.
