Christian Gonzalez is looking to build on his breakout season in 2024, and that all starts during training camp.
But this year, more so than ever before, Gonzalez is going to have some real competition when the team takes the field for the first day on Wednesday.
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been given the all clear about eight months after he tore his ACL during Week 8 of the 2024 season. And that means he’s ready to give it his all this summer. Specifically, he’s begun helping Gonzalez, while also getting ready to test him during training camp.
“Just being able to see it on film and actually ask him about it now… You don’t always get the luxury for (a receiver) to be on your team and sit down and break down that film,” Gonzalez said, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels. “I was able to ask him questions about certain things, certain reps he won, and he was able to give me some answers. That was cool.”
Diggs also gave Gonzalez one very important piece of advice: “Just be in people’s face. Be who I am. He told me that.”

But, while they are on the same team in the end, training camp will show a more competitive side as Gonzalez will likely be matched up against Diggs in many team drills.
“I’m excited for that. It’ll be fun,” Gonzalez said. “He’s also done it for a long time at a very high level. I kind of picked his brain a little bit during the spring already. So excited for those competitions. Even what he brings to that room and the team, he brings a veteran role, a veteran leadership role. He’s just going to crank up the competition, and it’ll be a lot of fun.”
