The Boston Celtics have shed quite a bit of talent this offseason. Could it be time for the front office to finally make a deal to give Celtics fans something to be excited about? That’s what popular YouTuber Kenny Beecham seems to believe.

To start the offseason, the C’s traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis in order to get under the second apron of the NBA’s new salary cap. They also watched Luke Kornet depart in free agency, with fellow veteran center Al Horford expected to follow him out the exit door in free agency.

While Boston did net Anfernee Simons in their Holiday trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, this team looks nothing like the squad we saw the last time they took the court in the Eastern Conference semifinals, especially when considering Jayson Tatum is likely going to miss the entire 2025-26 campaign with an Achilles injury.

If there’s a position the Celtics need help at heading into the new season, it’s the center spot. With that in mind, Beecham, who is known for making videos on the popular NBA 2K video game on YouTube, suggested that the team should go out and trade for Nikola Vucevic from the Chicago Bulls.

Vucevic has long been linked to the C’s as a potential trade target, dating back to his days with the Orlando Magic. Last season, Vucevic averaged 18.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game for the Bulls.

Offensively, Vucevic is precisely what Boston looks for in their centers. The Swiss center knocked down 40.2% of his three-pointers last year, and he’s big enough to hunt mismatches in the paint for easy buckets.

Defensively, Vucevic does have his limitations, but he’s still one of the best rebounders in the game, which is also an area the Celtics will need help with next season. His $21.4 million cap hit is worth being wary of, but Boston has created quite a bit of financial flexibility for itself with their prior moves.

It is worth noting that the C’s recently ducked back under the second apron of the salary cap by releasing JD Davison, so more moves could be on the horizon. And if they are looking for help in their frontcourt, Vucevic could be a solid option if Chicago decides to trade him.
