Boston Red Sox fans have heard and read the Jarren Duran trade rumors — and they don’t like them.
Duran has been consistently floated in trade speculation ahead of the July 31 deadline. Regardless of whether the Red Sox buy or sell, there seemingly is a strong chance of Boston trading some of its outfield surplus, with Duran a prime candidate.
Fearful of the speedy outfielder’s fate, a group of Red Sox fans directed a “Keep Duran” chant at chief baseball officer Craig Breslow following Thursday’s home win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Last month’s trade of Rafael Devers indicates Breslow will do what he believes is best for the Red Sox, regardless of potential fan backlash. So, we’ll just have to wait to see what happens.
The Red Sox entered Friday night’s game against the Rays on a seven-game winning streak and in control of the American League’s final wild-card spot. They also had trimmed their deficit in the A.L. East to just five games behind the first-place Toronto Blue Jays.
