The Boston Red Sox’s roller-coaster ride of a season has reached a new high. The team is currently in the middle of a six-game win streak heading into their upcoming contest against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night, and their offense is on fire.
During a pair of three-game sweeps of the Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies, the Red Sox offense averaged 9.3 runs per game. They are getting contributions from everyone who picks up a bat, but three guys in particular have been scorching hot during this stretch.
That crew consists of Romy Gonzalez, Wilyer Abreu, and Ceddanne Rafaela. Each of them has been driving in runs like a madman, and as it turns out, they have the three longest active RBI streaks across the entire league.
Of Gonzalez’s 28 RBIs this season, 12 of them have come during this recent eight-game stretch. Abreu has firmly broken out of a recent cold stretch with 11 RBIs during his six-game streak, while Rafaela has eight RBIs to go along with three home runs over his past five outings.

It is worth noting that this trio did pretty much all of their damage against a pair of subpar pitching staffs, but still the fact that they are all tops in the majors when it comes to this ongoing RBI streak is quite impressive, and a testament to the damage Boston’s offense can do when it’s operating at peak efficiency.
Things will get more difficult for the Sox now, as they will kick off a four-game series against their American League East rival, the Rays. First pitch for their next game is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET on Thursday night, with Walker Buehler toeing the mound against Taj Bradley.
