The New York Yankees might not be done making moves.

The Yankees have made multiple roster additions over the past week, most notably in acquiring third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies.

McMahon becomes an even more crucial get for New York now that Aaron Judge is dealing with an injury. The Yankees will need to keep their offense afloat to stay alive in a competitive American League East.

New York is also interested in bolstering its pitching staff before Thursday’s Major League Baseball trade deadline. A top-heavy rotation headlined by Max Fried and Carlos Rodón will add reigning AL Rookie of the Year Luis Gil back into the fold on Sunday, but the Yankees aren’t satisfied with their rotation.

As general manager Brian Cashman surveys the market for another impact arm, The Athletic’s Jim Bowden predicted a trade on Tuesday involving the Yankees and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

“The Yankees will add Zac Gallen from the Diamondbacks,” Bowden wrote.

Gallen was an All-Star and All-MLB First Team selection in 2023, but he hasn’t been great this season, tallying a 7-12 record to go along with a 5.60 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP entering Tuesday. Nonetheless, Gallen is being sought after by multiple teams aware of his talent and capacity to return to form in a new situation.

New York might have to part with significant prospect capital to outbid other contenders for Gallen. Guys like Spencer Jones and George Lombard Jr. are reportedly off the table, so it will be interesting to see if Cashman can put together an enticing enough package to make Bowden’s prediction come true.
