Daikin Park in Houston was the site of multiple homecomings on Monday.

Alex Bregman returned to Houston for the first time as a member of the Boston Red Sox, while Carlos Correa played his first home game for the Houston Astros since being acquired at the trade deadline.

“[That moment] was really cool, really cool. Great moment, just try to soak it all in. [Alex Cora] told me to enjoy it, and I really tried to. It was a special moment,” Bregman said.

Before the game, Bregman was recognized for his contributions as a member of the Astros. When he came to the plate for the first time, the crowd rose to their feet and gave him an ovation.

Not long after receiving an ovation in his former ballpark, Bregman hit a two-run home run to give the Red Sox an early lead. The next time he came to the plate, the crowd wasn’t as friendly, booing Bregman as he stepped in the box.

“[The booing] was great. I loved it,” Bregman laughed. “I was hoping they would.”

Bregman finished the night 2-4 with two runs batted in. The Red Sox made a late rally, but couldn’t come back from an early deficit as the Astros won, 7-6.
