With two on and two out, Jarren Duran had a career first. He hit an inside-the-park home run standing up, completing his dash around the bases in an mind-boggling 14.71 seconds. It’s the fastest that a Red Sox batter has run the Fenway Park bases for an inside-the-park home run since the start of the Statcast era. It was his 61st extra-base hit, joining Tris Speaker, Dustin Pedroia, and Mookie Betts as only the fourth Red Sox player with 60+ extra-base hits and 20+ stolen bases.
The Red Sox were able to avoid a sweep by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Sunday’s win, and will face off against the Guardians next.
