The Houston Astros didn’t put up much of a fight against the Boston Red Sox over the weekend, being swept across three games at Fenway Park.
It’s safe to say they tried to on Saturday, however.
Astros reliever Hector Neris displayed some serious displeasure with his opponent following the seventh inning of the middle game of the series, directing his ire toward Red Sox third base coach Kyle Hudson. Neris, who intentionally balked in order to prevent Trevor Story from relaying signs to Carlos Narváez, barked about the whole thing after securing the final out of the inning, leading to players and coaches pouringout of both dugouts.
NESN caught the beginning of the incident, which ultimately led nowhere.
How did the parties involved feel after the game?

“You’ve gotta ask Neris,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said following the game, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.
“Nothing,” Neris said when asked what he said, per Cotillo. “It’s part of the game — something funny.
“Maybe yes, maybe no,“ he said when asked if he thought pitches were being relayed. ”But just wanted to concentrate. In this situation, I don’t think about it. I want to do what I’m feeling right in the moment.”

NESN analyst Will Middlebrooks pretty much summed the entire thing up in the moment, mentioning how ironic it is that someone with that organization would be upset about relaying signs.
