The Boston Red Sox are drawing inspiration from a past season — a very, very successful past season.

The Athletic’s Jen McCaffrey revealed in a story Tuesday that the organization has brought back a version of the “win wall” that was popularized during its World Series-winning season in 2018.

Fenway Sports Group partner Linda Henry reminisced on the idea prior to the start of the season, bringing it to the forefront of a conversation during the club’s meeting with ownership during the spring.

“I was like, you know what, we should do it,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said, per McCaffrey. “It’s a fun way to recognize the guys.”

The Red Sox don’t have any players remaining from that squad, which won 108 games in the regular season and defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. It’s an old idea with a fresh twist, which the players are enjoying.

“It’s cool,” Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story said. “It’s a great little reminder as you go in and out of the clubhouse, you get to see the guys, and it’s kind of an affirmation for the hard work.”

McCaffrey’s story has tons of cool details about the tradition, but the one major change that has been made ties to its location. Cora’s office wall housed the old collection, while the new one sits in the hallway for all club personnel and clubhouse visitors to see.

It’s a cool idea, with the hope that that same winning mojo can carry over seven years later.
