The Boston Red Sox announced a pair of roster moves ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, among them the addition of right-handed pitcher Richard Fitts to the 15-day injured list with right arm neuritis.
Fitts, who earned his second win of the season on Monday, was removed from the game in the bottom of the sixth inning after experiencing soreness in his right bicep.
Speaking to the media after the game, Fitts reported that his arm felt better and he would undergo further testing on Tuesday to rule out the possibility of a more serious injury.
“Felt a couple things in my warmup pitches, just kind of pulling on the bicep a little bit,” said Fitts. “We’re gonna evaluate tomorrow, but I’m feeling pretty good about it.”
Recalled from Triple-A Worcester last week to join Boston’s bullpen, Fitts pitched four innings in relief of starter Brennan Bernardino before exiting the game. The 25-year-old rookie has a record of 2-4 with a 5.00 ERA in 45 innings with the Red Sox this season.

With Fitts sidelined, Boston recalled left-hander Jovani Morán from Triple-A Worcester. Morán, who was optioned to Worcester on August 19, has appeared in two games with the Red Sox this season and has a 6.75 ERA and five strikeouts in four innings of work.
The Red Sox will send right-hander Lucas Giolito (8-2) to the mound on Tuesday to face against Kyle Bradish, who will be making his first start of the season for Baltimore.
