If Kyle Harrison keeps pitching like he did Tuesday for Triple-A Worcester, it’s just a matter of time before the Boston Red Sox promote the left-hander.
Harrison pitched five innings in the WooSox’s 4-3 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. He gave up three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out two. Harrison threw 85 pitches, 57 for strikes.
The southpaw improved to 4-2 with a 3.69 ERA in 10 starts with Worcester following his arrival in June as part of the blockbuster Rafael Devers trade.
Harrison has been consistent in his four starts in August, pitching five innings in each appearance while posting a 2.25 ERA. He has 22 strikeouts in 20 innings this month.
Before his trade, Harrison made eight appearances this season for the Giants, including four starts. He went 1-1 with a 4.56 ERA.

The left-hander, who made his MLB debut in 2023 with San Francisco, figures to be a key depth piece for the Red Sox should they have an opening in the starting rotation or the need for a multi-inning reliever down the stretch.
Boston’s pitching staff has taken a bit of a beating this year, with Hunter Dobbins (torn ACL), Tanner Houck (Tommy John surgery) and Kutter Crawford (wrist surgery) all out for the season.
The Red Sox acquired Harrison, 24, along with right-hander Jordan Hicks and prospects James Tibbs III and Jose Bello in the Devers deal. Tibbs briefly was ranked as Boston’s No. 5 prospect before chief baseball officer Craig Breslow traded the infielder to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Dustin May deal.
