Report: Cowboys Open To Trade Offers For Micah Parsons

The Micah Parsons saga has reportedly taken another turn one week before the 2025 season commences.

The Dallas Cowboys are open to offers for Parsons, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer, Dan Graziano and Adam Schefter. Several teams have reportedly reached out about the All-Pro edge rusher, who requested a trade earlier this month.

Parsons has not practiced with the Cowboys this summer while seeking a long-term deal. The four-time Pro Bowler’s contract ends after the 2025 season.

Earlier this week, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed confidence that Parsons will be available for Week 1 in some capacity. Yet the 26-year-old’s contract dispute remains unresolved ahead of next Thursday’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

ESPN reported that no trade is forthcoming, but the Cowboys would like clarity on the situation soon. Parsons’ chances of suiting up would likely decrease if he doesn’t participate in Friday’s first official full practice.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones initially dismissed the possibility of a trade, shrugging off Parsons’ trade request as a negotiation tactic. However, ESPN said Dallas moving the superstar defender has “become a stronger possibility in recent days than it has been at any point during this process.”

“There are said to be multiple suitors, though it’s unclear whether Dallas ultimately would be willing to deal Parsons,” ESPN wrote.

One of the NFL’s most prolific defenders, Parsons has registered 52.5 sacks in four dominant seasons. He has the potential to become the league’s highest-paid non-quarterback and would presumably require a considerable return for Dallas to trade him.

The New England Patriots have stated they’re willing to move premium draft capital to improve their roster before the 2025 season. They added Harold Landry III and Milton Williams after tallying an NFL-worst 28 sacks last season.
