The Los Angeles Lakers announced Saturday that former Boston Celtics forward Anton Watson has signed with the team to continue his NBA career.

The Lakers hadn’t made the details of Watson’s deal public, but it’s likely an Exhibit 10 contract.

An Exhibit 10 contract lets a team sign a player for one year at the league’s minimum salary on a non-guaranteed basis. This type of contract provides the player with the opportunity to participate in training camp, as well as the G League and Summer League.

Boston selected Watson in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft after he played at Gonzaga for five seasons.

Watson never played in an NBA game for Boston but did suit up for its G-League affiliate, the Maine Celtics. Watson averaged 12 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 21 games for Maine.

The Celtics parted ways with Watson in March, and he quickly found a new home with the New York Knicks, where he made his NBA debut shortly thereafter.

Watson will compete for a roster spot with the Lakers, and if he makes the team, he could face the Celtics for the first time in his career on Dec. 5.
