Former Red Sox Pitcher Sets NL Team’s Franchise Record

Starting pitcher Quinn Priester is in his third MLB season and first with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 24-year-old right-hander is in the midst of a breakout campaign and is showing why he was the 18th overall pick during the 2019 MLB Draft.

Priester — who was traded from Pittsburgh to the Boston Red Sox in July 2024 — was sent to the Brewers in April, moving minor-leaguers Yophery Rodriguez and John Holobetz (plus a draft pick) to Beantown in the process.

The Illinois native set a Brewers franchise record on Friday night, winning his 11th consecutive decision in Milwaukee’s 5-2 win over the Pirates. Priester finished his outing allowing two runs on six hits with one walk and six strikeouts over seven innings.

He’s now 12-2 with a 3.25 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 113 strikeouts across 141 1/3 innings covering 26 games (21 starts) and hasn’t lost since May 13.

Priester’s 11 straight victories broke a 33-year-old franchise record of 10 consecutive wins, accomplished by both Cal Eldred and Chris Bosio in 1992.

Friday was Milwaukee’s 17th straight victory in a game Priester appeared in, including 14 starts and three “bulk” relief outings following an opener. The stretch began on May 30.

With Priester and All-Star right-handed starter Freddy Peralta dominating all summer, it’s no surprise that the Brewers enter Saturday with the best record in baseball at 87-55.
