The Boston Celtics are preparing for the upcoming season, welcoming several new players following significant roster changes made this offseason.
Star guard Jaylen Brown joined a livestream Saturday and shared his thoughts on how this year’s Celtics team is entering a new chapter.
“Half the team is gone,” Brown said, via Noa Dalzell. “I wish them the best. I appreciate them. They were great teammates. It’s a new era, everything has kind of changed and shifted.”
The Celtics traded guard Jrue Holiday and forward Kristaps Porzingis, and they did not agree to a new contract with center Al Horford this offseason.
Boston will play without star forward Jayson Tatum, who expects to miss most or all of the season due to a torn Achilles tendon.

The Celtics will need to rely on new players this season, including guard Anfernee Simons, whom they acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers in the trade package for Holiday.
Boston also signed several free-agent big men, including Luka Garza, Josh Minott and Chris Boucher.
The first preseason game is set for Oct. 8, when many fans will get their first sneak peek at the new era of Celtics basketball.
