When Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman first takes the field during Game 1 of the team’s AL wild-card playoff series against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, he’ll join an exclusive club of MLB legends.
“Once Alex Bregman takes the field tonight he will join the list of players who have appeared in 100+ postseason games,” Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe posted on Bluesky. “Jeter 158 Posada 125 Williams 121 Justice 112 Ramirez 111 Altuve 105 Y. Molina 105 Bregman 100.”
Bregman hasn’t missed the postseason since his 49-game rookie campaign in 2016.
The three-time All-Star took part in the playoffs in each of the last eight seasons with the Houston Astros and helped them the World Series in 2017 and 2022.

With the 31-year-old Bregman out of the picture, Houston missed the tournament for the first time in nine years this fall.
The former AL MVP runner-up has a .238/.346/.443 triple slash across 434 career playoff plate appearances covering 99 games. Bregman’s shown his power in the postseason, however, collecting 19 home runs and 54 RBIs during the playoffs.
He’ll be breaking a tie with former Yankees first baseman Tino Martinez for eighth place on the all-time playoff games list on Tuesday night.
