Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story is excited to reignite the rivalry with the New York Yankees.
The Red Sox are set to go on the road to play the Yankees in the Wild Card Series. Boston and New York have an intense past in the playoffs, and Story is looking forward to seeing the rivalry in full force in the postseason.
Although the Red Sox are going on the road, Story says the team is confident heading into the matchup.
“It’s going to be exciting,” Story said, via MLB.com. “Obviously, a bunch of history there. And like we’ve said this whole time, we don’t really care who we play, as long as we get in and we feel like we’re a confident group and we can take care of business. So yeah, we’re looking forward to it.”
Boston is an underdog in the series against the Yankees, but Story says the team is confident they will pull off the upset.

Although the Red Sox aren’t favored, manager Alex Cora believes that if his team pitches as it has, Boston has a good chance to win the series.
“It’s New York against Boston. It’s going to be big,” Cora said. “We’ve got a bunch of guys that haven’t been on this stage, but they have a lot of guys that haven’t been on this stage, either. It should be fun. It’s going to be loud. Like always, if we pitch, we’re going to be okay.”
Boston will be playing New York in the playoffs for the first time since the 2021 Wild Card Series.
