Former longtime Boston Bruins left wing Milan Lucic signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the St. Louis Blues in August.

Lucic didn’t make the Blues’ Opening Night roster, but general manager Doug Armstrong kept the door open for the 37-year-old when discussing the situation with reporters on Tuesday.

“Doug Armstrong on Milan Lucic’s training camp PTO: ‘He got banged up the last couple (of preseason) games. We’re going to rehab him here, get him back up health-wise to 100% and likely reconnect on an in-season PTO to get him up and running and see where he’s at then.’ #stlblues,” the official X account of the Blues posted Tuesday.

The Bruins selected Lucic in the second round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and he spent the first eight seasons of his career in Beantown.

After suiting up for the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames from 2015 to 2023, Lucic returned to the Bruins at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign.

He played just four games with Boston that season before being arrested for allegedly attacking his wife — charges that later were dropped. Lucic had entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program upon getting placed on leave by the Bruins.
