NESN, New England’s premier sports network, on Monday announced a strategic partnership with The Sporting News to oversee and operate NESN.com and SportsNetPittsburgh.com, further advancing the network’s ongoing digital evolution while making their web destinations go-to digital hubs for the stories, insights, and highlights that define New England and Pittsburgh sports.
Backed by its expansive editorial team, partnerships, and global publishing network, The Sporting News will elevate NESN.com‘s and SportsNetPittsburgh.com’s digital coverage, delivering more news, statistics, analysis, opinion, and event coverage of New England and Pittsburgh’s teams. The site will also feature expanded national and international sports coverage that connects local fans to the larger sports landscape.
With 60 million fans visiting NESN.com each year, the platform has become a key touchpoint for engaging passionate New England sports audiences. This partnership strengthens one of NESN’s most valuable digital assets — bolstering its reach, enhancing the fan experience, and unlocking new opportunities for advertisers and sponsors to connect with deeply engaged local and regional audiences. As NESN continues to expand its digital footprint, the improved editorial experience on NESN.com and SportsNetPittsburgh.com will provide even greater value to brand partners seeking premium visibility across trusted, high-traffic sports destinations.
The partnership is part of NESN’s broader digital makeover, which continues to focus on investing in and enhancing the platforms that serve an expanded audience of fans, wherever they are. That effort has already fueled significant growth for NESN 360, the network’s direct-to-consumer streaming service, which has more than doubled its subscriber base in 2025 and saw a nearly 400% increase in the average audience for Red Sox games. NESN manages SportsNet Pittsburgh, including its digital platforms. In 2023, after assuming management responsibilities, NESN created SportsNetPittsburgh.com and launched a direct-to-consumer streaming product to market for Pittsburgh fans called SNP 360. NESN will continue to oversee the direct-to-consumer services and partner with The Sporting News on integrations.
“Our mission continues to be making NESN, SportsNet Pittsburgh, and all of our properties, compelling destinations for sports fans,” said David Wisnia, President & CEO of NESN and Sportsnet Pittsburgh. “Partnering with The Sporting News allows us to bring even more energy and depth to our coverage on NESN.com and SportsNetPittsburgh.com, making them even stronger and more engaging platforms for fans who want smart, timely coverage and analysis of the teams they love.”

The partnership will build over time, with co-created multimedia efforts and cross-promoted content, with The Sporting News assuming responsibilities for the web properties beginning this month.
