The Minnesota Twins fired former Boston Red Sox outfielder Rocco Baldelli from his managerial post at the end of September.

Now, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Twins are hoping to interview former Red Sox infielder Ramon Vazquez for the vacancy. Vazquez has been a member of Boston’s coaching staff since 2018 and has served as manager Alex Cora’s bench coach since the 2023 campaign.

“Sources: Twins are seeking permission to interview Red Sox bench coach Ramon Vazquez for their manager opening,” Heyman posted on Bluesky.

It was reported on Monday that nearly every member of Boston’s coaching staff would be returning for the 2026 season. The only reported exception as of Monday was assistant hitting coach Ben Rosenthal.

Vazquez had a nine-year playing career from 2001 to 2009, appearing in 27 games with the Red Sox in 2005.

The 49-year-old worked as an infielders coach with the San Diego Padres in 2017 before joining Boston’s staff.
