Baseball America released a list of 40 standout hitting prospects from the 2025 international signing class on Wednesday, and the Boston Red Sox are well represented. Boston has four signings on the list, more than any other team in the league.
Hector Ramos is the first name to appear on the list. Baseball America’s evaluators are impressed by his contact ability and strike zone judgement. He’s also a switch-hitter with a chance to stick at shortstop.
One thing the Red Sox have done well recently is develop bat speed. Kristian Campbell was drafted as a prospect with good bat-to-ball skills but average bat speed. After joining the organization, he increased his power by adding bat speed and sped through the minor leagues. At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Ramos has room to add weight and bat speed to find power.
Harold Rivas also appears on the list as a “Prospect to Watch.” Rivas is similar to Ramos, with great contact skills and plate discipline. He’s a strong defender in center field and has a chance to find power as he develops.
Dorian Soto was the Red Sox’s top international signing in terms of signing bonus. He’s bigger at 6-foot-3 and has already shown good bat speed. Baseball America describes his plate approach as “aggressive”, so he’ll need to be more patient to succeed against advanced pitching. He’s also unlikely to stick at a premium defensive position, but his potential at the plate compensates for defensive limitations.

Jostin Ogando is the final name on the list. He’s touted for his power, registering huge exit velocities at 17 years old. Evaluators say his swing path limits his home run ability, something the Red Sox will look to address in the future.
Having signed last year, all of these prospects are just 18 years old or younger and still far off from making an impact at Fenway Park.
