Jarren Duran, Red Sox Avoid Arbitration By Signing $7.7M Deal

There won’t be a redo of last offseason’s arbitration battle between the Boston Red Sox and outfielder Jarren Duran.

It’s great news for both sides as the Red Sox on Tuesday announced a one-year deal had been reached with the star outfielder.

Jen McCaffrey of TheAthletic reported that Duran’s new deal is worth $7.7 million with $75,000 in performance bonuses. The bonuses are individual payments of $25,000 when he reaches 450, 500 and 550 plate appearances. Duran has surpassed 600 plate appearances each of the last two seasons.

Alex Speier of the Boston Globe also reported that Duran was given a $100,000 buyout since the Red Sox declined his $8.4 million option for next year.

Also worth noting: Duran received a $100K buyout because the Sox declined their $8.4M bonus for next year. As for next year’s bonuses, he gets $25K for reaching each of 3 milestones: 450 PAs, 500 PAs, and 550 PAs.

The new deal potentially keeps Duran, who is the Red Sox’s second-most experienced hitter, in their lineup for 2026 as they look to build upon a successful 2025 season that ended with a wild-card round appearance.
