The Boston Red Sox are reportedly showing interest in star shortstop Bo Bichette.

Bichette is one of the top free agents available, and several teams have shown interest in the shortstop. Bichette has spent his entire career with the Toronto Blue Jays, but is a free agent, and WEEI’s Rob Bradford reported the Red Sox are one of the teams showing interest in Bichette.

“Ever since Craig Breslow declared that one of his two priorities this offseason was to find a middle-of-the-order hitter, most eyes have turned to free agents Alex Bregman and Pete Alonso,” Breslow wrote.

“But according to multiple sources, another name should be added to the Red Sox’s target list: Bo Bichette. The Red Sox have shown interest in the 27-year-old free agent infielder, who would certainly fit the bill when it comes to an impactful right-handed bat that can hit in the top four spots of the Sox’s batting order.”

Bichette can play shortstop, second, or third base, giving the Red Sox some positional flexibility. He is also familiar with Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow.

The Blue Jays signed Breslow to a minor-league contract in 2018, in part so that he could work with the young stars like Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He spent the majority of the 2018 season in Double-A New Hampshire with Bichette.

Bichette is projected to get a seven or right-year deal, pushing $200 million. He hit .311 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs as he dealt with a knee injury in September, which ended his regular season before making his return in the World Series.

Bichette is a two-time MLB All-Star and led the American League in hits in 2021 and 2022.
