The Boston Red Sox are embarking on a wildly important offseason after making a surprise run to the playoffs in 2025. And while most of the focus will be on the moves the team makes before the start of the new season, one of the team’s minor league affiliates caught some attention on Saturday night.
All across the majors, minor league affiliates of major league teams have begun rebranding in an effort to generate more attention. With there being so many minor league teams, the folks running them are beginning to get more creative when it comes to finding ways to get fans to attend their games.
That leads up to the Salem Red Sox, who have been the Red Sox’s Single-A affiliate since 2009. During that time, the team has featured the same name every single year. That is going to change in 2026, as it was announced that the team is rebranding to become the Salem RidgeYaks.
“The Single-A Carolina League affiliate of the Red Sox has a brand-new identity! Say hello to the Salem RidgeYaks,” Minor League Baseball said in a post on its official X account.
Located in Salem, Virginia, the new identity is aimed towards reflecting what makes the area where this team plays so great. The new logos and color scheme will surely be a hit among fans who can get their hands on some new gear.

For folks in the Salem area, watching this team play gives fans an opportunity to check out some of the top prospects in the Red Sox’s farm system. After reinforcing the team’s prospect pool in recent years, though, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Boston’s front office make some aggressive moves to bolster the major league roster over the next few months.
