If you haven’t yet heard, it appears the Red Sox are interested in free-agent slugger Kyle Schwarber.

The New York Post’s Jon Heyman is the latest to cite Boston’s interest in Schwarber, though indicated the Red Sox will have plenty of competition for the prized free agent.

The incumbent Phillies, Reds, Orioles, Pirates and others are “all in” on Schwarber, according to Heyman.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal recently shared the Red Sox could enter the mix for Schwarber and FanSided’s Robert Murray believes he would be a strong fit in Boston. MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reported a few weeks ago that Boston had checked in on Schwarber.

A reunion with Schwarber, who finished the 2021 season in Boston after a midseason trade, would make plenty of sense. He’s one of the top free agents on the open market and would provide both a serious boost in the lineup as well as veteran leadership in a young clubhouse.

The Athletic projected Schwarber would sign a five-year, $145 million deal, an average annual value of $29 million.
