The Boston Bruins suffered a 5-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on the road on Tuesday.

Boston struggled out of the gates, as the Bruins were down 2-0 after the first period, and 3-0 just 95 seconds into the second period. Bruins’ head coach Marco Sturm admits he was frustrated with the team’s start, especially after beating the Red Wings on Saturday.

“We knew they were going to come out hard, especially with the way the last game ended,” Sturm said on Tuesday, as seen on NESN’s postgame show. “We just were not sharp in the first period.”

Boston then trailed 5-2, before scoring two unanswered to make the game seem closer than it was.

The Bruins were led by Alex Steeves, who scored twice and continues to be an impact player for Boston. Although Steeves scored twice, he admits he was frustrated with how the team played on Tuesday against a division rival.

“It was nice to get the goals, but I’m not happy with the game,” Steeves said. “We’re a better team than that.”

The Bruins split their home-and-home against the Red Wings, but are now 15-13-0 and outside of a playoff spot.
