The Buffalo Bills could be without a star cornerback on Sunday when they go on the road to play the New England Patriots.
Buffalo’s top cornerback, Christian Benford, was on the injury report on Thursday due to a toe injury he suffered in practice. On Friday, Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott gave an update on Benford and admitted he wasn’t sure if he would be able to play on Sunday.
“We really don’t know,” McDermott said on Friday. “Just 24 hours off of the incident, so we will see how today goes.”
When asked if it would be a long-term injury, McDermott doesn’t think it is.
“I don’t feel like it is,” McDermott added.

Benford has been a lockdown corner for the Bills and has scored two touchdowns in the past two games. While on Ja’Marr Chase, Benford recorded a pick-six for Buffalo, which flipped the game around and propelled Buffalo to the comeback win.
The Bills selected Benford in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and have been an impact cornerback since then. This season, Benford has recorded 39 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.
Buffalo enters its game against the Patriots on Sunday as a 1.5-point favorite.
