The NHL trade deadline is still over two months away, but on Saturday, Boston Bruins insider Fluto Shinzawa urged the team to look into making a move for a rival winger this winter.
The senior writer for The Athletic tabbed Toronto Maple Leafs left-winger Matias Maccelli as a potential trade target for Boston.
“The left-shot winger would give the Bruins some offensive help in their top nine. He is also 25 years old, which fits the Bruins’ cycle in terms of building for the future while going for a playoff spot,” Shinzawa said.
This isn’t the first time that the Bruins have been linked to the former fourth-round pick.
It was reported in mid-December that Boston was interested in Maccelli. Furthermore, the Bruins were reportedly one of the teams that attempted to acquire the former First Team All-Rookie last offseason before he was traded to Toronto from the Utah then-Hockey Club.

Maccelli has 11 points via five goals and six assists across 25 games this season.
The 2025-26 NHL trade deadline is 3 p.m. ET on March 6.
