Boston Bruins star forward Morgan Geekie has been a major surprise this season as he’s second in the NHL in goals with 20.
Geekie has been a key part of the Bruins’ success, and due to his hot start, his name is mentioned as a potential contender to make Canada’s Olympic team. Team Canada has to announce their roster by Dec. 31, and Geekie is now on the shortlist.
Team Canada general manager Doug Armstrong spoke to The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun and mentioned Geekie as someone who’s gotten on Canada’s radar.
“Yeah, no, and you look at Morgan Geekie, who is near the top of goal scoring in the league, that’s why you wait as long as possible,” Armstrong said to The Athletic, in a piece published on Thursday.
“Players are going to make this very difficult. I think what we’re finding is our forward group has a lot of nuance to it, a lot of different options, and less in the other positions. It’s going to be a difficult team to make as a forward, there’s no question.”

Geekie is still likely a long shot to make Team Canada due to how deep their forward group is. But it’s still a great accomplishment for the Bruins star that he’s even being considered for the team.
Geekie has recorded 20 goals and eight assists for 28 points in 28 games this season.
The men’s hockey tournament at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 will begin Feb. 11 and conclude on Feb. 22.
