If you’re getting the sense (like the rest of us), that Derrick White always seems to active an extra gear during the end of games, you’re not imagining things. The Boston Celtics two-way demon has always been one to lock in during the clutch, and this season, White’s three-point shooting is a reflection of this rare and valuable quality.
Per FanSided’s Jack Simone, White leading the entire NBA in clutch three-point makes. White is an astounding 7-of-11 on clutch three-point attempts this season.
By the way, clutch time in the NBA is defined as the final five minutes of regulation (and overtime) when the point differential is five points or less.
White didn’t need to prove to Celtics fans that he was clutch. This is the guy that famously tipped in Marcus Smart’s miss in Game 6 of the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals, saving Boston’s season (for then moment).

Even so, the clutch three-point shooting figure pointed out by Simone is ultra-impressive.
It’s a reminder of how special White is as an overall player. He used to be known mostly for his defense and all-around play, but through the years, he’s evolved into a real and dangerous threat from three, making him undeniably one of the best 10 or 12 point guards in the NBA from a two-way standpoint.
