Michigan dismissed its head coach, Sherrone Moore on Wednesday afternoon. The university stated that Moore was “involved in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”

Now that Michigan will be looking for a head coach, a handful of names will emerge. Sports Illustrated’s Bryan Fischer named former Patriots assistant coach Brian Daboll as a possible candidate.

“Before Penn State hired Matt Campbell, it seriously considered the former Giants (Daboll) head coach,” Fischer wrote on Wednesday. “He is not a novice to the college game, and his work with quarterbacks could be very appealing if quarterback Bryce Underwood sticks around campus for the next two years.”

Daboll served as a defensive assistant with the Patriots from 2000 to 2001, then transitioned to wide receivers coach from 2002 to 2006. He then returned to New England as the tight ends coach from 2013 to 2016.

The Giants fired Daboll on Nov. 10, and he would be a good option for Michigan given his strong offensive mind.
