A former Boston Celtics guard is being made available in trade talks by his current employer, the Sacramento Kings.
Dennis Schröder is on the block, per Forbes’ Evan Sidery.
“After being their top offseason move, the Kings are now open to trading Dennis Schröder,” Sidery wrote on Tuesday. “Since signing a three-year, $45 million contract, Schröder has already been benched in Sacramento. For a contender in need of guard help, Schröder’s scoring could be a realistic option.”
The German-born Schröder entered the NBA when the Atlanta Hawks selected him 17th overall in the 2013 draft. He spent his first five seasons in Atlanta, developing into a reliable starter and signing a four-year extension in 2016.

Traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2018, Schröder thrived as a sixth man, nearly winning Sixth Man of the Year in 2020 with 18.9 points per game off the bench. He moved to the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2020-21 season, starting most games and contributing to their playoff run despite health setbacks.
In August 2021, Schröder signed a one-year deal with the Celtics, providing backcourt depth after Kemba Walker’s departure. Over 49 games, he averaged 14.4 points and 4.2 assists before a midseason trade to the Houston Rockets.
Subsequent stints included a return to the Lakers in 2022-23, where he helped secure a playoff spot, followed by time with the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets. In December 2024, he joined the Golden State Warriors via trade, then moved to the Detroit Pistons in February 2025 as part of a multi-team deal.
