The Boston Celtics are rolling, as they have won five straight games to move up to third place in the Eastern Conference. While Jaylen Brown is doing well to hold down the fort, the possibility of Jayson Tatum potentially returning to action later this season continues to linger over this team.
Tatum tore his Achilles tendon in the playoffs last season, and the expectation was that he’d miss the entire 2025-26 campaign. However, he appears to be well ahead of schedule in his injury rehab process, and the team has left the door open for him to get back on the court at some point this season.
After winning it all in the 2024 NBA Finals, Tatum’s injury all but ensured that Boston would not repeat as champions as it had anticipated. Still, the team’s most recent title is something the organization can celebrate forever, with Tatum recently revealing what it meant to win it all alongside his longtime partner-in-crime in Brown.
“I was just more happier to get that monkey off my back,” Tatum said on “The Morris Code.” “I been hearing it for so long, we couldn’t play together, we couldn’t win. And it was like, ‘Man, we finally did that s***.”
For years, many folks questioned whether or not Tatum and Brown were capable of leading Boston to the promised land. All those questions went away in 2024, though, as the duo carried the C’s to victory, ensuring that Banner No. 18 would be raised when all was said and done.

Brown is playing at an MVP-caliber level currently, so if Tatum can get himself healthy at some point later in the season, these guys could reunite on the court. And if that happens, the Celtics could immediately reestablish themselves as one of the top title contenders in the league.
